Tomorrow’s Leaders: Bridging Boundaries Toward Equity
Proposal Submission Form
GDI 10 – Year Anniversary Professional Development Conference

Omni Royal Orleans
May 31- June 3, 2018
New Orleans, Louisiana

Congratulations on deciding to submit a proposal for the 2018 Group on Diversity and Inclusion (GDI) Professional Development Conference! As the signature event of the year for diversity, inclusion, and equity professionals in academic medicine we are hoping to draw on the collective wisdom and experience of the academic medicine community, both within and outside the GDI. All submitters should be a member of an AAMC member institution. Consultants or other non-AAMC members, such as federal and state government officials, may participate only if considered integral to the presentation.

Things to consider as you prepare your proposal:
  1. Select from one of three breakout session offerings listed below. The program planning committee respectfully requests that you only submit for one format.
    • Deep - Dive Workshops
    • Provocative and Courageous Question Discussions
    • Poster
  2. Identify colleagues from your home institution or another institution to collaborate with and submit a presentation. Special consideration will be given to those presentations that are co-presented from across your campus, other campuses, and/or co-presented with members outside of GDI.
  3. Submit a workshop presentation to cover in-depth programs, trainings, or interventions that were successful at your institution.
  4. Submit a provocative or courageous question that pushes the envelope or creates new dialogue about emerging issues, trends, or theories in diversity, equity, and inclusion work.
  5. Clearly articulate intended learning outcomes: the specific knowledge and skills to be acquired as a result of attending your session.
  6. Incorporate adult learning principles and interactivity as appropriate to the format.
Note: Recent presentations from past GDI conferences should not be resubmitted unless significant changes have been made.
