Welcome to the QUAD 2017 Design Awards
Participating Chapters: AIA Connecticut, AIA New Jersey, AIA New York, AIA Pennsylvania

ELIGIBILITY
Architects licensed and residing in any of the four AIA participating chapters may submit projects located anywhere. Architects whose practice is located outside these chapters may submit projects whose site is located in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania. Emerging Professionals may participate in the Unbuilt category. Credit must be given to all contributing architectural firms. AIA membership is not required. The project, or submitted work, must have been completed after June 30, 2010. “Completed” is defined as “substantial completion” in accordance with standard AIA documents

CATEGORIES
BUILT PROJECTS
Built Project categories recognize design excellence in various kinds of built architectural projects. Submissions may be a single building, a related group of buildings, interior architecture, additions, restorations, or adaptive use projects. Entries may fall into more than one category but must be assigned by the entrant to one category only.
Commercial, Institutional, Educational or Multi-family Residential Design
Eligibility: Both public and private projects: single buildings, a related group of buildings forming a single project, and additions/renovations.

Residential Design
Eligibility: Single family residences and/or accessory buildings, new or remodeled, or any addition.

Preservation
Eligibility: Projects that address design issues related to adaptive use, rehabilitation, reconstruction or pure restoration.

Interior Architecture
Eligibility: projects of any scope that may be new construction, renovation, or preservation or restoration, rehabilitation, reconstruction or pure restoration.
UNBUILT PROJECTS
Unbuilt architectural designs, for which there is no current intent to build, of any project type, including purely theoretical, visionary projects, with or without a client.

REGIONAL AND URBAN DESIGN
Eligibility: urban design projects, planning programs, civic improvements, campus plans, regional plans, environmental programs or redevelopment projects. Examples might be research, policy development and implementation, community initiatives or charrettes, and input and assessment tools.

SUBMISSION FORMAT
Submissions require: project category; project name and location; architectural firm, principal, and contact information; project description; photographs; other graphic materials; and photography release form.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION – 250 word maximum
Built Projects: Identify building type and indicate whether project is new construction, remodeling, or addition. Provide project information briefly but completely as this is background data for your design problem and its solution. Include project concept; program and client requirements and their relationship to the architectural solution; context and site information; special constraints; project total square feet; year of completion; construction budget or cost; and any design challenges and solutions. List construction type, materials, mechanical systems and other pertinent technical data.

Unbuilt Projects: Should clearly state project goals but may not fulfill other requirements.

Regional and Urban Design Projects: Identify the type of project, the program and client requirements. Provide pertinent background and/or context information, special constraints, and if a constructed project, budget or cost. Note challenges that were presented and how they were met.
PHOTOGRAPHS/GRAPHIC IMAGES (jpegs at a minimum of 150 dpi, 800 px X 750 px)
Built: Commercial et al, Residential Design - New Construction, Remodeling or Additions
Maximum of 10 photographs to include 2 exterior photographs and one interior photograph

Built: Interior Architecture - New Construction, Remodeling or Additions
Maximum of 10 photographs and minimum of 3 photographs one of which is an exterior photograph

Built: Preservation, Restoration, Adaptation
Maximum of 12 photographs to include 2 before photographs and one interior photograph

Unbuilt
Maximum of 10 photographs, minimum of 3 photographs

Regional and Urban Design - Constructed Projects
Maximum of 5 photographs; and a maximum of 6 graphic images, such as: before/after aerial photographs, plans, 3-D rendering/animation, model. If applicable, a PDF of the publication or print material
DRAWINGS (jpegs at a minimum of 150 dpi, 800 px X 750 px): Include a maximum of 8 drawings of Floor Plans; Elevations; Sections; or Perspectives. Provide Site Plan at small scale, showing the project and its immediate environs.

MEDIA IMAGE: The submission includes one image for potential publication: jpeg at 300 dpi; Horizontal: 4920 X 3264 px; Vertical: 3264 X 2448 px

FEES
$25 per submission. Payment to be made by credit card.
