The Central Virginia AIA invites you to participate in the 2018 Design Awards Program. The Design Awards Committee encourages all Architects and Emerging Professionals who are members of AIA Central Virginia or AIAS UVA to submit their work. ELIGIBILITY
Entries must be the work of an Architect, or Associate, that is a member of AIA Central Virginia, or a member of AIAS UVA Students. Projects may be built or unbuilt with the construction drawings having been completed after January 2010. Any entry which is not the sole responsibility of the submitted architect. or student, must be properly credited. Projects which have previously won awards other than from the Central Virginia Chapter are eligible.

LOCATION
Projects may be located anywhere if submitted by an Architect or an Associate who is a member of AIA Central Virginia, or a UVA student who is a member of AIAS.

AWARDS
The program is not a competition but a recognition of projects that a jury assembled by Richard Maimon, AIA, Kieran Timberlake, Philadelphia, deems to have achieved excellence in architecture; therefore, there are no submittal classifications, number of awards to be given, or detailed criteria beyond those stated in this announcement. The Awards Committee strongly encourages the submission of a wide range of project types. The six categories in the Awards for Excellence suggested to the jury are the following: Architecture, Historic Preservation, Interior Design, Contextual Design, Residential Design and Student Work. The jurors may confer as many awards as they deem appropriate in as many categories as they wish. The firm or organization of the record and owner of each winning entry will receive a Certificate of the Award. Presentation of Awards will take place at the Awards Gala on October 17, 2018 in Charlottesville, at the Old Metropolitan Hall, 101 E Man St 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.v

All architecture students are encouraged to submit one exemplary project that reflects an innovative approach to architectural design. Two scholarship awards of $500 will be made.

DEADLINES
Entry Forms Due: September 15, 2018
Submittals Due: September 23, 2018
Awards Presentation: October 17, 2018

All registration for the awards will only be accepted through this submission site.

The fees are as follows:

• AIA Central Virginia members the fee is $75 for each project to be entered.
• The fee is non-refundable.
• AIA Emerging Professionals fee is $5.
• AIA Associate Central Virginia members the fee is $5.
• AIAS UVA Students the fee is $5
