Welcome to Abstract Submissions

JADPRO Live at APSHO 2017
Abstract Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in abstracts for JADPRO Live at APSHO 2017. Abstract submission is now closed and abstracts are under review.

Thank you for your interest in abstract submissions for the fifth annual JADPRO Live at APSHO CE-accredited conference. The event audience will include nurse practitioners, PAs, clinical nurse specialists, advanced degree nurses, hematology/oncology nurses, pharmacists and physicians. The conference chairs invite our oncology advanced practitioner attendees who are members of the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO) to submit abstracts to be considered for moderated poster presentations at the conference.

Abstracts may be submitted by oncology advanced practitioners who are members of APSHO and plan to attend the live event. Abstracts must complete the entire submission process by 11:59pm PDT on August 1, 2017 to enter the review process for consideration for poster presentations. The abstract deadline will not be extended.

Information Required for Abstract Submission
An abstract will not be considered submitted and ready to enter the review process without the following information: Submission requirements must be met and approved for an abstract to move into the review process. If there are any questions regarding the submission information for an abstract, the submitting author will be notified by a member of the JADPRO Live team. Abstracts may not be submitted by parties on behalf of authors. Submissions of this type will be declined.

Abstract Topics
The APSHO member should submit an abstract that describes a completed initiative, including the significance of the results and implications for advanced practitioners in oncology. Topics can include research, clinical/evidence-based practice, education, leadership, professional development and advanced practice projects. Abstracts should be no more than 400 words and organized with paragraph headings. Word count does not include title or paragraph headings. Example headings: Tables are not allowed with abstracts, but may be used on posters. Abstract content must be objective and free from bias. Content must be original, not previously presented or published, and not submitted for consideration elsewhere. Encore abstracts will not be considered for review. A maximum of 10 authors will be allowed for each abstract. Projects in progress may be considered for review if the information provided is compelling and pertinent to the advanced practitioner prior to completion. Once the abstract submission process has been completed and is ready for peer review, there will be no revisions to the abstract. Late-breaking data past the submission deadline can be included in the poster should the abstract be accepted. Requirements must be met for an abstract to move into the review process.

APSHO Membership Information
Members who plan to submit abstracts should be current on membership dues, have completed member profiles, and be members in good standing. For more information regarding your current membership status or to join APSHO, please visit www.apsho.org.

Review Process
All completely submitted abstracts that meet submission requirements will undergo review, including review by two or more peer reviewers in a double-blind review process via the electronic submission system. (Authors and reviewers will remain unknown to each other). The JADPRO Live team may contact submitting authors with questions regarding abstracts or submission information. The submitting author may contact the abstract organizer of the JADPRO Live team (see below) for questions throughout the process. All submitting authors will be notified of review outcomes. Only accepted abstracts will be eligible for poster presentation at the conference.

Poster Presentation Requirements
Submitting authors whose abstracts are accepted for poster presentation will be contacted by the JADPRO Live team. This team will provide the submitting author additional details, such as poster number, specifications for poster development, presentation times and any additional requirement details for final approval. Poster presentations of accepted abstracts are open to APSHO member submitting authors who are registered and paid conference participants. It is expected that the submitting author and presenting author are one and the same. If there are any questions regarding the role of the presenting author, please contact the abstract organizer.
The Presenting Author will complete the following tasks in the submission platform prior to the poster presentation: Poster task deadlines will be communicated by the JADPRO Live team. All communication regarding poster presentation will be directly with the submitting/presenting author. Poster presentations for accepted abstracts will be held on Friday November 3 and Saturday November 4, 2017 at designated times. The submitting/presenting author should be on site to discuss the poster during both designated Poster Sessions during the conference. Accepted abstracts, posters, and presenting author information will be available in the conference app during the event as well as on the JADPRO Live official conference website. Accepted abstracts will be published in an issue of the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology (JADPRO) following the live event. Publication of the abstract will not jeopardize future submission of the manuscript.
