CAPCSD Leadership Academy
Program Description: As part of its mission to provide visionary leadership for academic programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders and to promote the professional development of its constituents, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) is continuing its program to help individuals considering academic leadership positions or who are newly engaged in academic leadership develop their knowledge and skills in the area of leadership.

The third annual CAPCSD Leadership Academy, “Best Practices in Academic Leadership,” will be held April 18-19, 2017, at the 2017 Conference location. The Academy will be led by Dr. Jeffrey Buller, Dean of Florida Atlantic University’s Wilkes Honors College. Topics to be covered include foundations of leadership; time management; stress management; collegiality and team building; best practices in faculty evaluation, mentoring, and coaching; leading change; and goal setting/planning for the future.

Selected participants will receive complimentary registration to the Leadership Academy and the CAPCSD Annual Conference (April 19-22), as well as two nights hotel and some meals.

Eligibility Guidelines: Participation will be limited to approximately 20 individuals, chosen through a competitive application process. CAPCSD welcomes applications from any faculty member in a CAPCSD-member program.
