The 21st International Conference on Water Chemistry in Nuclear Reactor Systems
Programs: Chemistry Program
September 9-14, 2018
Hyatt Regency San Francisco, San Francisco, California, USA
Background
The conference on Water Chemistry of Nuclear Reactor Systems focuses on the latest developments in science and technology of water chemistry control in nuclear reactor systems from around the world.
EPRI will be the host organization with the conference being held in San Francisco, CA, USA.
The conference provides a forum where utility professionals, engineers, scientists, university researchers, research institutes, and service organizations come together to address the challenges and opportunities of water chemistry control. Nuclear power plant chemistry plays a critical role in materials integrity, fuel integrity and performance, radiation field management, cooling water sustainability, and the overall economic viability of plant operations. This conference offers an important chemistry technology transfer opportunity for the global nuclear industry.
Safety and reliability remain at the forefront of Light and Heavy Water Reactor operation. Operating experience, imparting important lessons to be shared and learned, as well as industry research and assessments provide a rich resource from which one can distill important information to help improve and optimize plant performance. Participants will have the ability to gain important insights and knowledge during the conference not only from oral presentations, with the opportunity to ask questions, and poster presentations, which offer a more intimate setting for knowledge transfer, but also from the opportunity to directly interact with peers from around the globe during the many breaks and conference dinner.
In addition, a separate but coordinated workshop on
radiation chemistry and electrochemistry will be held at the
end of the week. This workshop offers participants the
opportunity to exchange and discuss important work and
information on various aspects of radiation and
electrochemistry effects in the nuclear industry
