Call for Oral Abstracts, Posters, Breakouts & Small Group Discussions
Submission Deadline: July 30, 2018, 5:00 PM EDT
The Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) invite you to submit a proposal for a breakout session, small group discussion, oral abstract and/or poster at the 2019 CREOG & APGO Annual Meeting.
Our 2019 theme is
Unmask Your Potential in Medical Education. Educational sub-topics to use in your submission are:
- Throw Me Some Beads: feedback, advocacy
- Meet You by the Bayou: Interprofessional collaboration, diversity and inclusion, learning environment
- Joie de Vivre (Joy of Life): rejuvenating teachers, well-being
- Let’s Get Jazzy: innovation of curriculum
- The Saints Go Marching In: difficult Learners, faculty development
Type of presentations include:
- Breakout Sessions: hour-long, interactive sessions with audiovisuals designed to facilitate an exchange of information, ideas and educational strategies among a large group of participants
- Small Group Discussions: hour-long, interactive sessions designed to have the same overarching goals in a more intimate group of up to 25 people (no audiovisuals)
- Oral Abstracts and Posters: presentations of research and educational innovations
- Film Festival Submissions: short films pertinent to women's health education (no longer than 10 minutes and must be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo)
Film Festival submissions will be categorized to fit into one of the four broad areas:
- Medical Student Education
- Resident Education
- Faculty Education
- Continuing Medical Education
Film Festival submissions will be further subdivided using the ACGME competencies:
- Patient Care
- Medical Knowledge
- Practice Based Learning and Improvement
- Professionalism
- Communication Skills
- Systems Based Practice and Improvement
Become a Big Deal! Awards have been established to encourage research and knowledge dissemination about obstetrics and gynecology. The awards offered at this meeting include:
- Student or Resident Award for Excellence in Educational Research
One $500.00 award for best oral abstract or poster
- Oral Abstract Presentation Awards
Three awards given, 1st place $500.00, 2nd place, $300.00, 3rd place $200.00
- Poster Presentation Awards
Three awards given, 1st place $300.00, 2nd place $150.00, 3rd place $100.00
- EMPOWER CREOG Grants
Five $2,000.00 awards given to Program Directors, Residents and Program Managers to initiate programs and research in specific areas of residency training.
- APGO Academic Scholars and Leaders Alumni Oral and Poster Awards
Two awards given, one for best oral abstract presentation, $500.00, and one for best poster presentation, $300.00, from submissions by graduates of the APGO Academic Scholars and Leaders program between 2014-2018.
- CREOG & APGO Exxcellence Award
One $500.00 award for best oral abstract or poster demonstrating best use of one of the Foundation for Exxcellence in Women's Health programs, books or courses (http://www.exxcellence.org/)
- APGO Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids Oral and Poster Awards
Up to two $1,000 awards for best oral abstracts or posters demonstrating excellence in student educational techniques surrounding the diagnosis and management of Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids
Abstract and Manuscript Publication in the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (Green Journal)
Abstracts (posters and oral presentations) that are selected for presentation at the CREOG & APGO Annual meeting may be selected for publication in a special CREOG & APGO Supplement for the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (Green Journal). In addition, authors of posters and oral presentations are also eligible to submit their work as a manuscript for the CREOG & APGO Supplement. Manuscripts are limited to 3,000 words and 20 citations. Detailed instructions on manuscript preparation for the CREOG & APGO Supplement will be available on
www.apgo.org in the fall of 2018. Please note, no changes can be made to abstracts after the
submission deadline of July 30, 2018.
APGO Abstract Catalog
The APGO Abstract Catalog is an interactive database of oral and poster abstracts presented at CREOG & APGO Annual Meetings that can be used as a resource to determine what has been presented at past meetings. Link to the catalog:

Peer Review
All submissions will be peer-reviewed anonymously by members of CREOG and APGO.
