Welcome to the 2018 AIA St. Louis Design Awards
Deadline for Submission: July 20, 2018 (11:59:59 pm)
The 2018 AIA St. Louis Design Award categories for submission are:
- Architecture
- Interiors
- Unbuilt (may include unbuilt master planning projects)
- Small Projects*
- Drawings
- Craftsmanship
* Small Projects Awards will feature built architecture and interiors projects which qualify in one of three categories of eligibility:
- Projects may be under $150,000; or
- Projects may be under $1.5 Million; or
- Projects may be under 5,000 SF.
If a small project is honored with a Design Award, it will be in the Small Projects Awards overall category, and not as separate award in one of the three sub-categories.
Projects must be completed or designed after January 2013. We accept projects from firms outside St. Louis that were designed, built or planned for the greater St. Louis area. We accept project from firms in the greater St. Louis designed, built or planned for anywhere in the world.
The deadline for submission is July 20, 2018 at 11:59:59 pm.
ENTRY PROCESS
- Architecture, Interiors, Unbuilt, Small Project and Craftsmanship entry will consist of the following, including payment:
- All Firms – listing of participants in the project, adding all consultants/sub-contractors; participants may have more than one role; please list every firm that played a role in the project’s success, providing details for their role in the firm detail section
- Project Description – Describe the project in general terms siting the challenges this project presented for you.
- Project Details – Listing of the project type, completion date, project type, etc.
- Digital Image – Upload of your preferred project image
- Powerpoint – download the Powerpoint Template AIA St. Louis provides to use to create a total of 14 additional pages (plus the first title page). You may be creative in the Powerpoint, changing the background color, layout, etc after the first page. Please make certain that the project number and image page remain in the upper right hand corner of each page. The total Powerpoint upload must not exceed 15 MB.
- Please note that all Craftsmanship entries must be within a 30 mile radius of St. Louis, as the jury visits each entry.
- Drawings entry will consist of the following
- Drawing Detail – Media and techniques explained
- Digital Image – Upload and image of your submitted drawing
- PowerPoint – download the Powerpoint Template to complete the first page information and then insert your drawing entry into the second page and uploaded.
Submission Fee:
Architecture: $130 for members; $250 for non-members
Interiors: $130 for members; $250 for non-members
Unbuilt: $130 for members; $250 for non-members
Small Project: $130 for members; $250 for non-members
Drawings: $25 for members; $50 for non-members
Craftsmanship: $25 for members and non-members
All entries will be submitted online and, once payment is made, work may continue on the entry until the deadline. Once you have started a submission, you will receive an email acknowledging your work and providing you with an access key (password) to return to your submission to continue working as well as to start a new entry by clicking on

Each project submission will require a unique email address and a single payment will be made on each unique entry; each entry will be assigned a unique entry number that should accompany each submission.
ELIGIBILITY
Projects previously honored with an award in a specific category of the AIA St. Louis Design Awards program are not eligible to enter in that same category again.
The submitting architectural firm may qualify as a member of a design team, whether or not serving as the head of the team. Please list the key participants in the design team and their specific role (design architect, architect of record, etc.) as well as consultants and engineers (i.e. civil, structural, MEP/FP, lighting, acoustics, etc.) in the All Firms section. We ask you list the General Contractor and as many subcontractors as possible.
Note: Please enter other architectural firms or important-to-the-project consultants under the Section All Firm(s) and indicate their specific role i.e., architect of record, structural engineer, lighting consultant, design team member, general contractor, project owner, photographer, illustrator, contractor, etc.
Project identification of any type will remain concealed throughout the deliberations of the jury. If the authorship is revealed on any of the images, plans, or narrative, the entry will be disqualified:

DEADLINE
All submissions must be received before 11:59:59 pm (Central Time) on July 20, 2018. The submission deadline date will be strictly observed, with no exception.
Other Information
Entrants may submit more than one project. Each project must be submitted individually. AIA St. Louis reserves the right to review the submission for compliance with submission rules. Non-compliance may result in rejection of the entry without refund of the entry fee. The entrant’s submission constitutes written permission for AIA St. Louis to use submission for publication and Chapter archival purposes.
Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid online. You may continue to revisit and revise your entry until the deadline, but no refunds will be issued for submissions that are disqualified, late or incomplete.
Additional Tips:
- AIA St. Louis provides the PowerPoint entry format for use by entrant during the submission process.
- Entrants will provide critical information about the project and its context for review by the jury on page 1. This is an opportunity to provide additional information to the jury which may not be readily apparent through the photographs and drawings in the project submission.
- Entrants are allowed to design pages 2-15 of the PowerPoint, noting the entire file limit size of 15 MB.
- Composite images are acceptable on the PowerPoint page portion of the submission (no videos)
- Text/notes on images/drawings are allowed.
- Indicate the scale used on any drawings or plans, along with north arrow on plans.
- The background color may change on slides 2-15.
