Welcome to the 2018 Learn Serve Lead : Medical Education Call for Proposals for Medical Education Submissions

The AAMC is accepting submissions for the 2018 AAMC Learn Serve Lead Meeting to be held November 2 – 6, 2018 in Austin, Texas. Learn Serve Lead—open to all those who care about the future of academic medicine—is the only meeting where our community converges to discuss and expand the future of medical schools and teaching hospitals. By bringing together our community from across campuses, across disciplines, and across missions, we can enable connections, deliver thought-provoking change, and provide leadership that will transform health care.

The call for medical education submissions consists of two types, Sessions on Medical Education and Highlights in Medical Education. While work focused on a variety of themes will be considered, the following are particular areas of focus and will be given special consideration:

Competency Based Medical Education
Examples of competency based progression
Examples of competency based assessment
Translating the language of competence across the continuum (e.g. EPAs to milestones)

Transitions
Transition to Medical School
Transition to Residency
Transition to Practice
Re-entry into Practice

Community-Based Medical Education
Pipeline programs to medical school
Training physicians in communities

Diversity and Inclusion
Structural Racism
Unconscious Bias

All abstracts must be submitted online no later than 11:59pm (PST) on December 11, 2017.

We recommend that you prepare your proposal in a word processing application and then paste each component into the corresponding online section. An abstract submission is considered a commitment to attend the meeting and present if accepted, and an acknowledgement of the costs associated with travel and meeting registration.Decisions will be sent to the contact author in March 2018.
