Welcome to the 2017 INACSL Call for Abstracts
Welcome to the abstract collection site for the INACSL Conference, 2017. INACSL is now accepting abstracts for our conference in Washington, DC at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. For more information about the conference, please click here as information becomes available.

Online submissions for pre-conference and conference will be accepted until midnight (Pacific Time) on November 16. Works in progress will be considered if results will be reported at the conference. In order to streamline the submission process, we’ve provided an overview of requirements and tips below. Please note that failure to complete the required documentation by the due date may result in your abstract being delayed or potentially rejected.

  1. All authors:
    1. Need to create a unique login and password to enter the site.
      1. Once your account is set up, you will receive a confirmation email from support@conferenceabstracts.com. If you do not see the confirmation, please check your junk mailbox. Accepting the confirmation email will ensure that you receive future email confirmations and communications through your email system’s firewall.
    2. The author submitting the abstract is designated as the “lead author”. There may only be one lead author per abstract submission.
    3. All additional authors are designated as co-authors.
    4. Each abstract may have a maximum of 7 co-authors.
    5. Lead author provides email information to create co-authors. The emails provided will only be used to contact co-authors to complete their required materials.
    6. All communication regarding the status of an abstract will occur between the lead author and INACSL.
    7. All authors are required to complete the following forms:
      1. A Bio/Conflict of Interest/Disclosure form – 2017 Bio/COI Form
      2. Statement of work – 2017 Statement of Work

    2. Select level of presentation
    3. Current state - what is currently known about your topic, or is this something all practitioners should know.
    4. Desirable/Achievable state - what do you want your participants to gain at the conclusion of the session? What are objectives for the session?
    5. Gap - select knowledge, psychomotor, skill, etc.

Presentation type descriptions: One Hour Concurrent means that you will present in a 55 minute time slot which includes Q/A. One Hour Hands-On means that you will have lecture plus activities (at least 30 minutes) to do for a one hour session. One Hour Hot Topic means that you believe that this topic is one of the “hottest” in the sim world at this time for one hour. One Hour Featured General Session means content is so dense that at least one hour is needed to give clarity to the topic mainly for keynote or plenary speakers. This is typically reserved for research type agendas. Twenty-five Minute Concurrent means that you will present in a time slot allocated to similar topics for 25 minutes including Q/A.

Created by education professionals to address tricky issues in simulation, HomeGrown Simulation Solutions comprises self-made items, creative adaptations to existing items, simulation recipes and ideas that add to the suspension of disbelief in simulation. Each item includes objectives for use, ideas to integrate it into the curriculum and step-by-step instructions that provide a roadmap for replication. First introduced by Margaret (Meg) Meccariello at the 2007 INACSL Conference. In 2008, the HomeGrown Simulation Contest began; winners were published in Clinical Simulation in Nursing, the journal of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL). Today in collaboration with NLN, submissions are ranked and highlighted on the NLN website with instructions on how to use and/or incorporate into simulations. Started in 2015, the highest ranking submissions were invited to the INACSL conference to showcase their solutions where we continue this educational tradition today. Multiple presenters are offered a 50 minute opportunity for attendees to browse solutions and ask questions in an informal setting. There are often homemade take-a-ways and hands-on for practice.

Once your abstract has been submitted, completed and locked, no information updates can be changed concerning title, author(s) or abstract information without admin assistance to ensure accuracy.

If your abstract is accepted, you will be directed to indicate if participation in the Virginia Henderson Global Nursing e-Repository at the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) is desired. Your participation is appreciated.

We understand that there is some redundancy in the information required for submission. However as an ANCC provider of CNE for INACSL, we are required to collect the information in multiple locations in order to remain compliant with regulations. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact Leann Horsley, Lead Nurse Planner, at ceinacsl@gmail.com.
