Important Information
Session Formats (as defined by the Convention Industry Council)
- Break-Out Session- Training session in which participants, often through exercises, develop skills and knowledge in a given field.
- Panel Discussion- Instructional technique using a group of people chosen to discuss a topic in the presence of an audience.
- Poster Session- Display of reports and papers, usually scientific, accompanied by authors or researchers.
Learning Level Definition
- Advanced- Highly experienced and knowledgeable in the topic or role
- Intermediate- Somewhat experienced and knowledgeable in the topic or role
- Novice- New to the topic or role
- All- session is appropriate for all attendees.
Types of Room Set-ups
- Theater Set: Seating arrangement in which seats are in rows facing the stage area. Presenter Focused/Low Interaction.
- Classroom Set-Up: Seating arrangement in which rows of tables with chairs face the front of a room and each person has a space for writing. Presenter Focused/Low Interaction.
- Banquet Rounds: Seating arrangement where typically a grouping of rounds is set in such a way that encourages discussion. Presenter/Participant Focused/Partial Interaction.
Selection Criteria
- Proposal submission was completed by the deadline. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed
- Proposals are subject to a blind-review by an external review committee.
- Content is focused, current, practical or innovative, and has clearly written learner outcomes.
- Timing - has the topic or presentation been featured recently at a NCEA conference or other event in the past three years.
- Presentation is designed to encourage high audience interaction/participation by incorporating multiple interactive strategies to engage participants such as, facilitated delivery with high participation involvement, peer-to-peer components, large and small group discussions, participant brainstorming components and participant involvement in case study analyses.
