2017 AIA INDIANA ANNUAL DESIGN AWARDS – Call for Entries
All AIA Indiana member architects in good standing or AIA member architects in good standing with projects located in Indiana are invited to compete for Honor, Merit, and Citation Design Awards to be presented at the Annual AIA Indiana Design Awards Program.

Click here to view a full entry description.

Eligibility and Authorship
All AIA Indiana member architects are eligible to submit project entries. Also, all AIA member, Indiana licensed non-resident architects are eligible to submit project entries located in Indiana.

Entries are welcomed and encouraged from both established and new practitioners and designers and from small firms and large. All submissions, other than H. Roll McLaughlin 25-year Award submissions, must have a substantial completion date within five (5) years after September 27, 2012. Where multiple architects and/or designers collaborated on respective projects, the applicant shall identify all participating design and engineering firms and their roles in the project.

An individual or firm may submit more than one entry. It is recommended the architect inform the owner that the project has been entered in this awards program. An additional entry fee is required if a submission is entered into more than one category. Entries submitted to previous AIA Indiana Annual Awards Programs may be resubmitted if they did not receive an award.

Adjudication
All entries will first be reviewed by the AIA Indiana FAIA Design Awards Task Force to ensure each entry followed the stated rules before they are submitted to the 2016 AIA Indiana Design Awards Jury.

Entries, except for H. Roll McLaughlin 25-Year Award submissions, will be judged by the 2016 AIA Indiana Design Awards Jury, which will be an eminent architectural jury of peers from an AIA component of similar size and attitude. The H. Roll McLaughlin 25-Year Award submissions will be adjudicated by the AIA Indiana FAIA Design Awards Task Force.

Typically, jury members are members of similar AIA Chapters and are often past recipients of AIA Design Honor Awards. Many have previous AIA design jury experience at the local, regional, and national level. Jury members represent a cross section of our profession with backgrounds in small and large private practices, public or governmental practice, educational, art and allied professions, and architectural journalism. This year’s jury is being provided by AIA Birmingham, AL. Jury members include: Philip E. Black, AIA (Chair), Principal, CEO, Simonton Swaika Black Architects, Inc.; Cheryl Morgan, FAIA, Emerita Professor of Architecture in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture of Auburn University; Jeffrey Dungan, AIA, Jeffrey Dungan Architects; Brian Roberson, AIA, bDot Architecture Furniture Form.

If necessary, substitutions for any jury members will be announced to the membership of AIA Indiana. It is the intention of AIA Indiana to publish jury members and their respective comments regarding the award recipients at the time of the presentation of the awards. Comments on entries that do not receive an award are typically not provided.

All decisions of this jury are final and independent from AIA Indiana, its officers, directors, committee members, and staff. The AIA Indiana Awards Committee does not participate in the jury deliberations, but will organize the jury, ship and receive entries to and from the jury for deliberations, and facilitate preparation and presentation of the awards.

Presentation of Awards
Results of the jury and award winners will remain undisclosed to the public until the day of the presentation, Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Media releases may be released the day prior to attract media promotions. Winners will receive a plaque.

The awards reception is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27 in Indianapolis, IN, which is a part of the 2017 AIA Ohio Valley Region Convention. All entrants are encouraged to attend the entire convention as well as the awards presentation. Owners of the built work and contractors are also encouraged to attend. Registration for the convention, including the awards presentation, will be sent separately.
