The World Congress on Continuing Professional Development will take place March 17-19, 2016, with educational sessions all day Thursday and Friday and Saturday morning. Outstanding keynote presentations, designed to stimulate discussion, will highlight the major themes and will be followed by breakout sessions in the following formats:
- Workshops are highly interactive with defined outcomes. Length: 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Submissions should include: background, purpose, format, expected outcomes for participants. (Note: at least 50% of the workshop should be interactive.)
- Oral Research Presentations report on completed research or work in progress. Submissions should
include: background, research question, methods (population, data collection and analysis methods), results, conclusions.
- Oral Best Practices Presentations are examples of CPD/ CME practices or innovations with evaluation data. Submissions should include: background, purpose, interventions, results/applications, future directions.
- Poster Presentations present research or best practices on a display board. Posters will be grouped by theme, available for viewing at dedicated times, and include brief, facilitated presentation. Use either of the formats above for either Research or Best Practices.
- Innovation Lab provides the opportunity to demonstrate innovations in education. These may be a product or a resource that has been implemented and which others may wish to replicate. Submissions should include: background, purpose, innovations, results/applications, future directions.
- The Research Symposium examines a specific CPD/CME research topic, focusing both upon the research AND its application into practice. Two to four presenters will present diverse perspectives. Length - 90 minutes. Only one of the submissions for the symposium will be selected. Submissions should include: Background, objectives, significance to CPD/CME, focus on research and its application, format, perspective of presenters, collaborative nature of work.
Abstracts should include:
- Title
- Authors and their institutional affiliations
- Synopsis of 2-3 sentences
- Body of abstract (maximum 300 words)above
- Elements noted above for each submission type
- Funding sources (if applicable)
All submitters will be asked to disclose relevant financial relationships.
Criteria for selection are:
- Potential contribution to the advancement of CME /CPD research and practice
- Quality of research design and methodology (Research Papers)
- Quality of educational design and evaluation (Best Practices)
- Clarity
- Ability to illuminate the key themes of the Congress
- Use of innovative approaches
- International scope or impact
- Interprofessional scope or impact
- Engaging and interactive presentation
Please note: To design the most effective overall program, the Program Committee may ask that submissions be combined or presented in another format to be accepted.

Notification of Acceptance: Notifications will be sent before November 20, 2015
If your abstract is accepted, you (and your co-presenter/s):
- Are expected to present at the Congress
- Must pay all expenses to present and attend the Congress (e.g., preparation of the presentation/ poster, registration fee, travel, hotel, etc.)
