CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
The American Institute of Architects, San Francisco Chapter (AIASF) is seeking experts to present at the 2017 NEXT Conference. NEXT will be held on June 1 and 2, 2017, in San Francisco, CA. AIASF is accepting presentation proposals in the categories of Design, Technology, and Business for the June 2 day of programming at SFAI. Presentations will be accepted online through this portal. You will need to log in to the Abstract ScoreCard site at the bottom of this page, and to create an account there first if you have not already done so.

ABOUT THE THEME: AIASF NEXT/EVOLUTION
We’ve evolved the AIASF NEXT Conference and we’re positive your presentation proposals will help attendees progress as professionals. Submissions should be multidisciplinary in nature and include perspectives from industry collaborators. Preference will be given to proposals that include presenters from design firms and organizations aside from your own.

LOCATIONS

AIASF
One of the largest of nearly 300 AIA chapters, AIASF is a resource for architect and allied community members, as well as the general public. AIASF strives to improve the quality of life in the Bay Area by promoting architecture and design. We further this goal through community involvement, education, advocacy, public outreach, member services, and professional excellence.

SFAI
San Francisco Art Institute is a private, non-profit college of contemporary art with the main campus in the Russian Hill district of San Francisco, California.

AGENDA
The NEXT conference will follow a three-track system, featuring presentations in the design, business, and technology.

Thursday, June 1 | AIASF
DEEP DIVE ON HOMELESSNESS: Presented by AIASF’s Small Firms committee

Friday, June 2 | SFAI
DESIGN TRACK: Creative Innovations in Design
TECHNOLOGY TRACK: Shaping the Future
BUSINESS TRACK: Best Practices in Growing and Managing Your Firm

SESSION FORMATS
AIASF encourages submission of sessions including lectures, group discussions, panels, workshops, breakouts and much more. Share as many details about your proposed format as possible in your proposal to allow the Content Advisory Group to determine the best time slot for your session.

SUBMITTAL DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS
The NEXT conference is intended to challenge traditional thought, identify trends/current pressures and motivate attendees to think “outside the box.” Seminars and workshops should be aimed at an experienced/advanced level. The audience will include architects, designers, contractors, engineers, manufacturers and representatives, as well as other allied professionals, educators and students.

SESSION LENGTH
Submitted sessions should be planned to fill 60 or 90 minute slots. Submitters are encouraged to find creative ways to split up the 90 minutes – for example, one panel may speak for 45 minutes and then spend 45 minutes in discussion groups. Attendees respond positively to mixed-type and interactive formats, which break up the 60 or 90 minutes and stimulate more active thinking.

SUBMITTAL AND ACCEPTANCE
To be considered as a NEXT 2017 speaker, you must submit your proposal to the AIASF by March 29.

If accepted as a speaker for NEXT 2017, you will agree to provide an electronic copy of your complete presentation or session handouts no later than May 19 for inclusion in the conference proceedings materials.

PROPOSALS WILL BE ACCEPTED ONLINE ONLY.
PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MARCH 29.
