Welcome to the 27th SBAS Annual Meeting Submission Site!
The Program Committee of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS) cordially welcomes your participation in its Twenty-seventh Annual Scientific Meeting.

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts for the upcoming SBAS meeting to be held on April 26–28, 2018 hosted by The University of Alabama Birmingham Department of Surgery at the Westin Birmingham. We look forward to your contributions in basic science and clinical research. SBAS Members, residents, fellows, medical students and hospital/teaching faculty are invited to submit an abstract on the clinical or laboratory investigation of your choice. One is not required to be a SBAS member to submit an abstract.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING ABSTRACTS

All abstracts must be submitted by midnight (EST) December 1, 2017.

Abstracts must not have been submitted to a journal for publication, published previously or presented at a national or regional meeting prior to the 2018 annual meeting. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference program booklet.

The Claude Organ Resident Paper Competition
Residents and fellows in training are encouraged to submit their work for The Claude Organ Resident Paper Competition. Abstracts should be identified for this category at the time of submission. There is a cash prize for the winner. Additionally all residents and fellows who are presenting, and who are in an ACGME approved residency program, are all eligible for the CORRA.

Poster Session
A poster session will be held on Friday, April 27th. Posters should be no larger than 4' x 6' and formatted for a display board. Posters should be hung prior to the poster session and presenters are expected to be present to discuss their work, which includes a 3-minute presentation and 2-minute question and answer.

The Program Committee looks forward to receiving your abstract by December 1, 2017. We hope to hear from you soon and look forward to seeing you in Birmingham, Alabama April 26–28, 2018.
