Call for Oral Abstracts, Posters, Breakouts and Small Group Discussions
Deadline to submit is August 4, 2017, at 5:00 PM EDT.
The Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) invite you to submit a proposal for a breakout session, small group discussion, oral abstract and/or poster at the 2018 CREOG & APGO Annual Meeting.
Our 2018 theme is
Anchors Away: Navigating Your Course in Medical Education. Educational topics to use in your submission are:
- Winds of Change–Adjusting Your Sails: curriculum reform and teaching innovations
- Finding and Providing a Safe Harbor: wellness, satisfaction and patient safety
- Trim Your Sails: health systems innovation, process improvement, quality and value
- Stormy Seas: difficult topics and difficult learners
- Guiding Light: leadership, mentorship, research and diversity
Type of presentations include:
- Breakout Sessions: hour-long, interactive sessions with audio visuals designed to facilitate an exchange of information, ideas and educational strategies among a large group of participants
- Small Group Discussions: hour-long, interactive sessions designed to have the same overarching goals in a more intimate group of up to 25 people (no audiovisuals)
- Oral abstracts and posters: presentations of research and educational innovations
Become a Big Deal! Awards have been established to encourage research and knowledge dissemination about obstetrics and gynecology. The awards offered at this meeting include:
- Excellence in Educational Research Award for Student and Residents
One $500 award for best oral abstract or poster
- Oral Abstract Presentation Awards
Three awards given: First place, $500; second place, $300; and third place, $200
- Poster Presentation Awards
Three awards given: First place, $300; second place, $150; and third place, $100
- EMPOWER CREOG Grants
CREOG provides five $2,000 grants to initiate programs and research in specific areas of training. To receive funding in 2018, please submit your application on www.acog.org/CREOG focusing your submissions on the new 11th Edition of the CREOG Learning Objectives creating programs and resources to innovate the curriculum for faculty development and technical skills education.
- APGO Academic Scholars and Leaders Recent Alumni Research Award
Two awards are given—one for best oral abstract presentation ($500) and one for best poster presentation ($300)—from submissions by graduates of the APGO Academic Scholars and Leaders program between 2012-2017.
- Award for Programs of Exxcellence
One $500 award for best oral abstract or poster for best use of one of the Foundation’s programs, books or courses funded by the Foundation for Exxcellence in Women’s Health Care (http://www.exxcellence.org/)
- Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids Awards
The APGO Development Committee will offer up to four (4) $500 awards at the 2018 CREOG & APGO Annual Meeting to promote excellence in student educational techniques surrounding the diagnosis and management of endometriosis and uterine fibroids.
Evidence-Based Education Assessment
Abstract submissions based on promoting the awareness of “evidence-based education,” the development of educational research skills and/or the implementation of change reflecting concepts of evidence-based education will be highly regarded. Applicants will be asked to identify “Strength of Evidence” on the abstract submission form.
Abstract and Manuscript Publication in the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (Green Journal)
Abstracts (posters and oral presentations) that are selected for presentation at the CREOG & APGO Annual meeting may be selected for publication in a special CREOG & APGO Supplement for the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (Green Journal). In addition, authors of posters and oral presentations are also eligible to submit their work as a manuscript for the CREOG & APGO Supplement. Manuscripts are limited to 3,000 words and 20 citations. Detailed instructions on manuscript preparation for the CREOG APGO Supplement will be available on
www.apgo.org in Fall 2017.
Please note, no changes can be made to abstracts after the
submission deadline of August 4, 2017.

Peer Review
All submissions will be peer-reviewed anonymously by members of CREOG and APGO.
