Welcome to the 2018 WGEA Meeting

Training the Physician of the Future

March 24-27, 2018

Hosted by the University of Colorado School of Medicine

Westin Denver Downtown, Denver Colorado

https://wgea2018.com/

The WGEA invites abstracts for oral abstracts, posters, workshops, panels and small group discussions for the 2018 annual conference. Proposals may represent original research (either completed or in progress) or innovations in medical education. Abstracts can focus on any level of medical education (UME preclerkship or clerkship, GME, CME, or across the continuum).

All abstracts must be submitted online no later than 11:59pm (EST) on November 14, 2017.

This year, the WGEA Planning Committee is particularly interested in proposals that highlight the following themes as they relate to “Teaching the Physician of the Future”:

Curiosity
What are the qualities of a curious learner?
How do you create, support, and engage curious learners?

Community
What does community mean to you?
How do you encourage students to engage in the communities around them?
What relationship do you have with the communities you and your students serve?

Commitment
How is commitment to patients and the medical profession modeled in the classroom, on campus, or in healthcare settings?

Collaboration
How do you prepare the learner for working on teams (e.g., with interprofessional collaboration)?
What skills are needed as a physician leader to promote collaboration?

We recommend that you prepare your proposal in a word processing application and then paste each component into the corresponding online section. An abstract submission is considered a commitment to attend the meeting and present if accepted, and an acknowledgement of the costs associated with travel and meeting registration. Abstract decisions will be sent to the contact author in January 2018. All abstracts will undergo a peer-review process by at least three reviewers. Students, residents, fellows, and new investigators are strongly encouraged to submit their work.
